Vultures like Doves…

9th March
Matthew 23:8-10 (MSG)

Don’t let people do that to you, put you on a pedestal like that. You all have a single Teacher, and you are all classmates. Don’t set people up as experts over your life, letting them tell you what to do. Save that authority for God; let him tell you what to do.
No one else should carry the title of ‘Father’; you have only one Father, and he’s in heaven. And don’t let people maneuver you into taking charge of them. There is only one Life-Leader for you and them—Christ.

I was unsure what to read today and then I get to church and the Sunday school was about hypocrisy!!

Here are a few experts from the class…
Let your yes be yes and let your no be know. You owe God explanation and nobody else. Don’t let perceived expectations, airs and pride make you live a life of hypocrisy.

We also read this scripture; Matthew 5:33-37 and the Message version was just WOW!
One of the reasons for hypocrisy is tradition and religious “talk”. Some call it “christainese”, it’s like a language “everyone” speaks.
We get caught up in Christian cliches, forgetting that we are mere man and it’s okay not to be everything to every one.

Matthew 5:33-37 (MSG)
“And don’t say anything you don’t mean. This counsel is embedded deep in our traditions. You only make things worse when you lay down a smoke screen of pious talk, saying, ‘I’ll pray for you,’ and never doing it, or saying, ‘God be with you,’ and not meaning it. You don’t make your words true by embellishing them with religious lace. In making your speech sound more religious, it becomes less true. Just say ‘yes’ and ‘no.’ When you manipulate words to get your own way, you go wrong.

This is a very big topic!! I’ll like to know your opinion.
Here are some of the questions that were raised;
1. Why can’t people say no?
2. Why are Christians hypocritical?
3. Can someone be hypocritical and not know?

Let me know what you think in the comment section 🙂

Take care and have a blessed, wonderful and smile filled week.

As I was preparing for church, I switched on my TV cos I wanted to listen to gospel songs but didn’t want to plug my phone to the speakers. This song came on and I was blessed. It’s spoken to me previously and I hope it blesses your heart.
