A thousand tongues

O seun o baba
Ose o Jesu
O seun o baba
Ose o Jesu
Kini ma fi san ore re
Bi o ti po to laye mi
Egberun ahon ko ma to fun iyin re
Ose o Jesu

The words above are lyrics to an old Yoruba praise song. I woke up with the song on my lips.
I’ll try my best to translate and ask for forgiveness for any wonky or out-of-place translations, I’m Ijaw so… πŸ™‚

Please Note: I’m translating the words as they mean to me, I’m happy to takeΒ corrections by the Yoruba majors πŸ™‚
Here goes..
Thank You Father
Thank You Jesus
Thank You Father
Thank You Jesus
What will I repay your blessings with
As much as it(blessings) is in my life.
A thousand tongues is not enough to praise you
Thank You Jesus

Yippie (insert applause hehehehehe)

13th March
Psalms 35:28 (KJV)
And my tongue shall speak of thy righteousness and of thy praise all the day long.

I’m so thankful for all the Lord has done for me, my God has indeed been good to me, my family, loved ones, friends etc.. and I can’t help it if I want the world to know this great God! HALLELUJAH!!

This hymn also expresses what’s in my heart today!
O for a Thousand Tongues to Sing – Charles Wesley (1739)

1. O for a thousand tongues to sing
my great Redeemer’s praise,
the glories of my God and King,
the triumphs of his grace!
2. My gracious Master and my God,
assist me to proclaim,
to spread thro’ all the earth abroad
the honors of your name.
3. Jesus! the name that charms our fears,
that bids our sorrows cease,
’tis music in the sinner’s ears,
’tis life and health and peace.
There are more verses but I thought to stop here..

I was able to find a version on YouTube and I’m ecstatic (yippie)
It’s a jazzed-upΒ Β version and not the “local” or “mgbeke” way I sang it this morning but it’s still the song πŸ˜›
Enjoy ….

Just before I posted this, I found another YouTube video that sounds almost like the old school one. It has a new school sorta vibe to it but it will do perfectly.

Have a beautiful day and praise God in everything that you do today. Keep similing xoxox

Enjoy the almost Old school version here…

  2. Hi. I know I am years late but thank God for the internet (never forgets) .
I heard that Eseuon Baba song as a kid growing up in Kisumu Kenya from a tape I won at a kids camp many years ago and somehow lost it.
I loved the tape and remember some songs from it. Is there some way I could get these recorded songs? Audio or video. I’m Kenyan so I don’t know the languages and spellings (forgive me)
    – eseuon Baba
    – magnify the Lord and sing His praises now and evermore
    – all of my days will I praise Your holy name
