Today I woke up feeling all shades of blue. I just did not feel like getting off my bed but had to as I had previous commitments, so I set off at 6:30am howbeit not in the mood to deal with people in any way, shape or form 😦 .
Fast-forward to 8:30am; conversation with a friend, he was encouraging me and all then something he said struck a chord and voilà a post is born (Hooray!!)
The word he said was “demons of regrets”. I call them the “shoulda woulda coulda”, “what if/had I known” disease…
We also wondered where these thoughts/feeling come from and of course I said the pit of hell duh! hehehe.
We do not hesitate as Christians(sometimes) to trace every negative thing to hell (-_-)
Anyways, back to our conversation, this is what my friend had to say ;
“We’re just humans, from lack of contentment with life to undisclosed desires to weird sexual thoughts to greed, envy of others, progress in places you wished to bottled anger to many many other things”

Most times we just blame the devil because we cannot accept that as Christians we can sometimes feel a certain way. We also concentrate more on what we should be/do/have, forgetting it might be different to God’s plan.
As humans we feel certain ways and it is up to you as an individual to find out why and resolve said feelings.
This conversation cheered me up as well as sadden me( bipolar much you say 😛 ) as there are so many people(like me) going through emotional trauma caused by themselves. We choose to be sad, as hard or “tough love” as it might seem, it’s the truth.
Now, I’m not saying the process is easy or quick but I know it can be done. I assure there are days when you’ll want to shut yourself in and just cry and you would punch your inner self if you could see it :), There are also days when you’ll be all bubbly and cool with that annoying yet loving voice, the key thing is to find out why you feel a certain way and I assure you are on the path to choosing happiness.
One thing that helps me is conversations with myself. I ask myself why I’m feeling that way, what can I do to rectify it? can I even rectify it, is it transferred aggression? etc. I was having a conversation with myself one day, asking the usual questions and I shouted back at myself “I DON’T KNOW!!” and burst into tears. It was hilarious so I started laughing and my logical self said “see, you don’t even have a reason” (yeah it’s a madhouse in my head 😛 )
My point is, you are your greatest encouragement; even if you get a team of the world’s greatest motivational speakers to say the right words, with the right tone, it won’t work until you believe in the power of YOU. Until you understand how powerful you are, how you can shape your emotions to match your head(i mean what your logical self is saying) you will still be a slave to unhappiness.

Yes life happens to you but don’t let it get in the way of being happy and fulfilled. Speak to someone, laugh out-loud, dance on the street, laugh at yourself and with people, talk to yourself, and most importantly, believe in YOURSELF and the great power you wield as a child of God.
