Bankrupt without love

Source: Facebook Quiz Result

If I give everything I own to the poor and even go to the stake to be burned as a martyr, but I don’t love, I’ve gotten nowhere.

So, no matter what I say, what I believe, and what I do, I’m bankrupt without love

Love never gives up. Love cares more for others than for self. Love doesn’t want what it doesn’t have. Love doesn’t strut, Doesn’t have a swelled head, Doesn’t force itself on others, Isn’t always “me first,” Doesn’t fly off the handle, Doesn’t keep score of the sins of others, Doesn’t revel when others grovel, Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth, Puts up with anything, Trusts God always, Always looks for the best, Never looks back, But keeps going to the end.

Love never dies.

(‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭13‬:‭3-10‬ MSG)

Hello beautiful people, how are we doing this beautiful day? I’m doing good, been writing posts but not found the will to change “draft” to “published”, don’t ask me why because I definitely cannot answer as I don’t know *covers face*

The photo at the top of the page is a result from one of those Facebook quizzes, I like to take them to see how true they can get(blame curiosity) anyways, I took this earlier this week and bam! I was stunned. It described me to a T, I was blushing and smiling while reading it. It has stayed with me all week and then when I read the scripture on the train to work yesterday (yes I got a job! Yippie) I just knew I had to share this on the blog.

Love is one word that has been defined, dissected, studied etc. over time and I’m sure you’ll agree with me when I say not one definition fully describes it. As Christians our standard for love is God and this scripture(1 Corinthians 13:3-10) is one of the pointers on what love is and what it is not.

God’s love is an example of how we should love, the bible even urges men to love their wives as Christ did the church( Ephesians 5:25), such lofty but attainable standard. I always congratulate my married friends with this sentence; “may your marriage be an example of God’s love”. I say that because I know what God’s love is and how it can transform.

Love lasts forever

We love each other because He loved us first.
(1 John 4:19 NLT).

Dear friends since God loved us that much, we surely ought to love each other.
(1 John 4:11 NLT)

Three things will last FOREVER – faith, hope, and LOVE – and the GREATEST of these is LOVE.
(1 Corinthians 13:13 NLT)

So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other.
(John 13:34 NLT)

Husbands, love your wives and never treat them harshly.
(Colossians 3:19 NLT)

Dear friends, let us continue to love one anone, for love comes from God.
(1 John 4:7a NLT)

Keep on loving each other as brothers and sisters.
(Hebrews 13:1 NLT)

If someone says, “I love God” but hates a fellow believer, that person is a liar; for if we do not love people we can see, how can we love God, whom we cannot see?
(1 John 4:20 NLT)

We can see from the scriptures above that love is a big part our life as christians. The Bible extensively talks this beautiful thing called love, always remember we are all bankrupt without love!

So today, I urge you to have a look at 1 Corinthians 13 again and evaluate your relationships; marital, friendships, partnerships etc. see how you can truly show love. In fact spoil the people in your life with love, scatter them with love, destroy them with love 😛 hehehehehe

Have a great weekend lovelies, I will do my best to change those drafts to published this coming week, please help pray away the spirit of procrastination in my life please 😦
I love you all, yes I do!! I’ll leave y’all with one of my favourite love songs; Love by Kirk Franklin

  1. God bless you for this post, reminded me of something about Apostle Paul. He was the last of the apostles to die and when he could barely walk or preach anymore, he would be supported to go to church and back. And his preaching at that stage was always ‘love one another’. When he was asked why he always said that, he explained that if we have love, we have everything. And this post just brings home that truth.
Congrats on the job! Now I have to adopt you as my big sis…and you know big sis have to send money to their younger sisters right? (Just so we are sure so I don’t waste my adoption ni o)

    1. Congrats on the new job hun. Lol at Gatlinmay adopting you.

My pastor asked what we consider all ours and which couldn’t be taken away from us and i thought about it long and hard. All i could come up with was hope, faith and love. These 3 things are what matters, not the material things we amass or amass.
